Authorities such as the police and Customs & Excise have extensive powers to arrest anyone suspected of criminal offences. Such authorities can detain individuals in custody individuals for up to 36 hours, sometimes even longer.

That is why if you are arrested by the police or asked to attend a police station voluntarily as a suspect, it is advisable to seek legal advice at the earliest possible opportunity.
